Insiders and NBA fans are always trying to make predictions regarding the things that may or may not happen throughout the year and naturally, they miss on most of their bold takes more often than not.
- 10. Memphis Will Not Play In The Playoffs
- 9. The Indiana Pacers Will Not Play In The ECF
- 8. Trae Young Will Not Win Rookie Of The Year
- 7. Draymond Green Will Not Be Traded
- 6. The Oklahoma City Thunder Will Not Play In The WCF
- 5. Carmelo Anthony Will Not Retire
- 4. Joel Embiid Will Not Win DPOY
- 3. Russell Westbrook Will Not Be Selected To First All-NBA Team
- 2. Anthony Davis Will Not Play For The Pelicans Anymore
- 1. LeBron James Will Not Win The MVP
Naturally, there were a lot of predictions for this year, but according to from what we’ve seen so far, we can already go ahead and be sure that most of them are just not going to happen before the end of the season.
So, it’s time for us to break the heart of some NBA fans, letting them know about the top 10 things that are definitely not going to happen this season, at least, unless something amazing happens.
10. Memphis Will Not Play In The Playoffs

The Memphis Grizzlies got off to a very impressive start of the season even despite the fact that we all thought they were just going to tank right away, but they’re not going to be able to sustain that kind of performances.
Memphis is likely to enter a losing stretch at some point and they will try to move either Gasol or Conley (or both) to try and tank, so they’re definitely not going to be back in the playoffs this season.
9. The Indiana Pacers Will Not Play In The ECF

The Indiana Pacers were one of the most pleasant surprises of the prior campaign and it looks like they’re building on that success this year as one of the most entertaining teams to watch in the Eastern Conference.
Even so, and despite how great Victor Oladipo has been, this team just doesn’t have enough talent to get past the Sixers, Celtics, Raptors or Bucks; so they’re pretty much a lock to make it to the 2nd round and that’s it.
8. Trae Young Will Not Win Rookie Of The Year

Trae Young has been great so far, and even though some inconsistency was expected out of the rookie, he’s done a solid job trying to adapt his game to the NBA, but still, he’s not going to be this season’s Rookie of the Year.
So far, the point guard has averaged 16.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game on 40% from the floor and 25% from three, but he’s going to have a very tough time taking the prize away from Luka Doncic or Deandre Ayton.
7. Draymond Green Will Not Be Traded

There has been a lot of drama surrounding the Golden State Warriors lately, as Kevin Durant and Draymond Green got into a heated altercation that ended up with both parties pretty much hating each other.
The Warriors handed Green a fine and a suspension in an attempt to make KD feel like he’s the future of the franchise, so speculation grew among people thinking that they may trade Draymond. That’s just not going to happen. He’s the most versatile defender in the league and the best passer on the team. He’s staying. Period.
6. The Oklahoma City Thunder Will Not Play In The WCF

The Oklahoma City Thunder has been playing great lately even despite the fact that Russell Westbrook has spent most of the season sidelined with an ankle injury, with Dennis Schroder and Paul George leading the way.
Still, this team doesn’t have what it takes to make it to the WCF, and they’re just likely to choke once again in the 2nd round against a lesser team than them. Hopefully, I’m wrong, but that’s just who they are.
5. Carmelo Anthony Will Not Retire

Carmelo Anthony has once again been mistreated as the scapegoat. The Houston Rockets have just waived the 16-year veteran and he’s currently looking for a new team to continue his NBA Journey.
Even though McGrady encouraged Melo to just retire, and even despite the fact that his game doesn’t fit modern NBA, Melo is not going to call it quits right away, and will at least finish this season out of pure pride.
4. Joel Embiid Will Not Win DPOY

Joel Embiid is one of the best two-way players in the league and he’s currently on an MVP campaign, but his defensive expertise is one of the things that makes him even more amazing on a nightly basis.
Even though it seems like the league just doesn’t care for his defense and he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves, so he’s going to be snubbed once again of this year’s DPOY, with the league likely to just hand it to Kawhi Leonard again.
3. Russell Westbrook Will Not Be Selected To First All-NBA Team

Russell Westbrook is one of my favorite players to watch. He’s explosive, entertaining, fast, strong and a fierce competitor, but he’s not one of the league’s top-guys, at least according to the media.
So, even despite the fact that he’s likely to put huge numbers, the league’s going to favor a more efficient guard in their All-NBA First team. That being said, don’t expect Brodie to make it this year.
2. Anthony Davis Will Not Play For The Pelicans Anymore

Anthony Davis is entering his last season as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans and nobody can tell me otherwise. He’s going to be a free agent in 2020 and there’s just no way he resigns with that team.
The Lakers and Celtics all have the assets to make a deal for Anthony Davis and he’s grown sick and tired of wasting his talents with a team that’s not going to compete any time soon, so expect the Pelicans to deal him at the end of the season.

1. LeBron James Will Not Win The MVP

Everybody’s rooting for LeBron James to take the Lakers to the playoffs and bring back their old glory days in his first year wearing the purple and gold, and even though they’re not likely to be Championship contenders, the playoff drought will come to an end for sure.
Moreover, if he’s able to put an end to the drought, he’s going to be once again in the MVP considerations this season. Sadly, he’s not going to win another MVP award this year, because the league will just give it to either Durant or Curry.
