As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to sweep the nation, it’s more than likely that the 2019-20 NBA season will not return.

We’ll never know what would have happened had things played out until the end but Hawks guard Trae Young was convinced it was the Lakers who would have come out on top.

Trae Young hasn’t been in the league for long, but even he recognizes the greatness that LeBron James. He is helped lead the Los Angeles Lakers to the best record in the West before the NBA took its hiatus. LeBron, at 35-years-old, was an MVP candidate averaging 25 points, 10.6 assists, and 7.9 rebounds per game on 49% shooting.

Along with Anthony Davis (who is putting up 26 points and 9.4 rebounds), the team has been dominating opponents on both ends of the floor. They are seventh in points scored per game, and third in points allowed. On the surface, they certainly appear to be title favorites.

But they aren’t the only elite team in the West. They will have to compete with the Clippers, Rockets, and Nuggets.

And while no official word has been released on the state of the NBA, it might not be until next season that we find out just what the Lakers are capable of.
