Despite his small stature on the court, Trae Young is one of the most gifted offensive guards in the NBA right now. Young shared a message on social media after seeing that he has 1,021 floaters scored in his career with 0 dunks.

“A bucket is a bucket… Don’t forget that kids.”

Young’s offensive arsenal is extremely diverse, with the guard capable of scoring in every way possible outside dunking the ball. He’s among the crop of young guards that excel at finishing floaters, with Draft class rivals such as Jalen Brunson, Luka Doncic, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander all being known to have a deadly floater.

Trae doesn’t need to dunk at all, as his speed and quickness on the perimeter might be a greater asset than his needing more size and athleticism. He averaged 26.4 points and 10.8 assists this season before being ruled out with injury, hoping to rebound next season to lead the team back to the Conference Finals as they did in 2021.

Trae Young Thinks It’s Easy To Score In The NBA Compared To College Or Overseas

Trae Young is a scoring machine in the NBA and opened up on how difficult it is to score at this volume in the NBA. Young kept his answer frank, calling the NBA an easier league to score in compared to what we see overseas or in the NCAA.

“There is so much space in the game in the NBA that, of course, it is way easier to score than college or overseas. Just because there is so much space and so much talent on the floor that you can’t really help each other as much because of the defensive rules. It’s the way the NBA made the rules and that’s what people have to go with.”

Young also said that the explosion in numbers was inevitable over the years but could be fixed if new rule changes were incorporated.

“I feel like with numbers going up, that’s just evolution, it’s going to happen, especially with the way the defense is nowadays. If you really wanted more defense in basketball put defensive three seconds back in the game. That would change the outlook of offense and how easy it is to score.”

The opinion given by Young is shared by many other top stars in the NBA, including the league’s current leading scorer, Luka Doncic. The NBA is even looking to address how high-scoring the league has become by instituting stricter referee directives, which has led to a major decline in scoring post-All-Star break as teams are given the leeway to be more physical.
