Trae Young Says He Wants To Win A Championship: “That’s The Main Goal.”

Trae Young is one of the best guards in the game today, and he has already accomplished a fair amount in the league already. He took his team to the Eastern Conference Finals during the 2021 playoffs and has already made an All-NBA team, all before the age of 24. This regular season, Trae Young averaged 28.4 PPG, 3.7 RPG, and 9.7 APG.

The ultimate goal in basketball is winning a championship, and when speaking to Natasha Dye of People, Trae Young claimed that getting one is his “main goal”. While it is unlikely that the Atlanta Hawks will win a championship with the roster as currently constructed, it is quite possible that they could become a championship-caliber team once they make some moves.

“I want to win a championship; that’s the main goal,” Young recently told PEOPLE while spending time with family in Oklahoma.

“I’m at a space where everything’s been said,” Young explained. “So, there’s really nothing new.”

There is no doubt that Trae Young is an offensive superstar that is worth building around. Trae Young has made the Atlanta Hawks a competitive team, and they could be even better if the front office manages to get him a co-star. Notably, the Atlanta Hawks were mentioned as a potential destination for Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine in free agency. Trae Young and Zach LaVine would make for a potent offensive backcourt, and LaVine would give the team a consistent go-to scorer on the wing that could take some of the pressure off Trae Young.

Hopefully, we see Trae Young get to an NBA Finals and potentially win a championship in the future. We’ll have to wait to see if the Atlanta Hawks make the right moves, and put Trae Young in a position to do that in the future.
