Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks faced off against the Brooklyn Nets today, coming out on top, 129-127. Trae Young notably scored a game-winner to ice the game, showing his clutch-time prowess once again.

After the game, Trae Young reacted to his game-winner, noting that when one falls “against the odds up”, it is key to “get up and go crazy”. Trae Young is clearly hyped up after the win, and it is great to see the Hawks get a good win amidst all the drama this season.

The Brooklyn Nets have been a very good defensive team after the Kevin Durant trade. They have some elite lengthy wings such as Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, and Dorian Finney-Smith, all of whom can make life difficult for opposing stars. It is clear that this didn’t matter tonight, as Trae Young still exploded for 34 points while also getting the win.

As of right now, Trae Young is putting up 27.0 PPG, 2.9 RPG, and 10.2 APG for the Atlanta Hawks, though he hasn’t been efficient, only shooting 42.9% from the field and 32.7% from the 3PT range. He has been a fantastic offensive player this year, and once his efficiency improves, he will once again be viewed as a superstar in this game.

Stephen A. Smith Criticized Trae Young Amidst Coach Nate McMillan’s Firing

The Atlanta Hawks recently elected to fire coach Nate McMillan, replacing him with Quin Snyder. Amidst this situation, Stephen A. Smith called out Trae Young, stating that the guard needs to re-evaluate how he looks in this scenario.

“He needs to realize how he looks in all of this”, said Smith. “Two coaches have been fired inside of three years coaching Trae Young. That’s something that you need to look at if you’re him… Why is it that you are the star that you are… but they’re still searching for a coach for you… We all love him as a talent… Two black coaches have been fired under his watch, that bothers me.”

Though it is definitely concerning that multiple coaches have been fired in a short span of time after coaching Trae Young, there are plenty of other superstars that have played under multiple coaches. Sometimes, it is simply a matter of fit when it comes to coaching.

Hopefully, we see Trae Young get far in the playoffs this year. He made the Eastern Conference in 2021, and perhaps we could see him get there once again with the Hawks this year
