Game 5 between the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers is ongoing, but the Mavericks had to deal with major disrespect from a travel company called Skyscanner, who put an ad outside the Crypto.com arena that reads ‘Dallas to Cancun’, implying the Mavs’ first-round elimination is all but certain.

The picture of the advertisement has gone viral, prompting the Clippers to issue a statement saying that they had nothing to do with this.

“The billboard at L.A. Live is not owned or operated by the Clippers. We have the utmost respect for our opponents and in no way endorse this message.”

Even if the Clippers weren’t behind the billboard, it should be great motivation fuel for a Dallas Mavericks team who have their star player dealing with illnesses and injuries amidst one of his worst-performing series ever. Luka Doncic is averaging 29.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 8.5 assists, needing to pick up the pace if he wants Dallas to beat the Clippers in the playoffs finally.

Doncic is no longer solely responsible for the Mavericks’ success, as Kyrie Irving is averaging 28.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. The explosive backcourt pairing will want to make sure that companies like this do not disrespect their team and the best way to do so is to win the series and end the Clippers’ tenure at the Crypto.com.

Luka Doncic Blames Himself For Mavericks’ Struggles So Far

Doncic hasn’t been trying to escape accountability for his struggles this series despite overall impressive counting stats. He’s even been solid defensively but fans know that Doncic is capable of far better performances, especially in terms of his offensive efficiency.

After their Game 4 loss, Doncic got real on how he wants to play better and win this series for Kyrie Irving in particular because of how Kyrie has been carrying the team.

“I just got to help him more. I feel like I’m letting him down, so I got to be there, I got to help him more. He’s giving everything he has and he’s been amazing for us the whole series.”

Irving isn’t upset with Doncic’s spotty performance so far in this series, recognizing the problems that the Slovenian guard needs to overcome while also pointing out that winning this series means a lot to him.

“Knowing how well he knows the Clippers, I know he wants to play well, and I know he wants to make a bigger impact than what he’s doing now even though he’s almost averaging a triple-double… He’s a young kid in the playoffs going against a team that beat him twice. There’s a little bit of a mental fatigue there…”

Mavericks fans will be hoping that Doncic can push through his physical ailments and deliver a win without Kawhi Leonard on the opposing floor. If Doncic can’t deliver, Irving’s number will be called and it’ll be interesting to see if he can answer the call like he did in Game 4.
