The Philadelphia 76ers fired coach Doc Rivers after yet another playoff failure, as the team did not manage to get out of the second round. They hired coach Nick Nurse instead, and it seems as though the 76ers players are already excited about him.
On a recent episode of his Maxey on the Mic podcast, guard Tyrese Maxey spoke with coach Nick Nurse, and he raved about how Nurse is a tactically diverse coach who often tries new things.
“One thing I really thought about was how you say you try new things and you test them out. Like, that’s crazy. I’ve never had a coach that actually tests them out in the games,” Maxey said. “And I’ve seen you test them out against us in the game. Like a regular season game, it works and then you bring it back in the playoffs. The way that you adjust, the way that you come to those conclusions, I’m pretty sure you probably have a lot of late nights.”
There is no doubt that Nick Nurse is one of the best coaches in the league. It’ll be interesting to see whether he can unlock a new level to Tyrese Maxey’s game, and it is definitely an exciting time in Philadelphia.
During the 2022-23 season, Tyrese Maxey averaged 20.3 PPG, 2.9 RPG, and 3.5 APG for the Philadelphia 76ers. He also shot an astounding 43.4% from the 3PT range. We could definitely see him take a leap next season, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
Tyrese Maxey Is Untouchable For The Philadelphia 76ers
There is no doubt that Tyrese Maxey is the best young player on the Philadelphia 76ers, and the franchise clearly values him highly. In fact, a previous report indicated that he is untradeable for the franchise.
“My Yahoo! Sports colleague Jake Fischer reported Saturday that the 76ers are unwilling to include Tyrese Maxey in trade offers for Portland’s Damian Lillard. He took it a step further, too, and I have heard the same. Maxey is not available in any trade conversations, according to one team source, with the Sixers adamant that the speedy guard is a significant part of their future and thus not available in any scenarios.”
It remains to be seen how Tyrese Maxey does next season. Hopefully, he becomes a true star-level player for the franchise, and it definitely seems as though he’s on the right track.
