The Los Angeles Clippers are preparing to take on the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the NBA playoffs. Both teams have big-name superstars and excellent role players that can make a huge difference for them. Kevin Durant is on the Suns now, while Kawhi Leonard is still looking to prove that he can win with the Clippers.
The one player the Los Angeles Clippers will seriously miss if he can’t make it to the floor is Paul George. George picked up an injury toward the end of the season. And despite initial fears that it would put him out till next season, a potential playoff return was touted. And Head Coach Ty Lue has now provided the latest update.
“We’re definitely not going to do anything to hurt PG. Even if he does try to come back and he’s not right, we’re not going to let him go because we’re not going to let him injure himself and make it worse than what it really is. When he comes back, we’ll make sure he’s close to 100 percent without being able to injure himself even more.
“I’m not a doctor, I really do lean on the medical staff because like I said, I think we have one of the best medical staffs in the league.”
Tyronn Lue on Paul George potentially returning for the playoffs:

The Los Angeles Clippers will need Paul George to beat the Phoenix Suns, they have the headache of trying to limit Kevin Durant as it is. George is one of the league’s best two-way players, and his presence on the court will go a long way. It’s good to see that the Clippers are being cautious with his health, but it would not be surprising to see him on the court before the series ends.
A Potential Return In The Second Round Seems Likelier For Paul George
Even though Paul George would be crucial to getting a series win against the new-look Phoenix Suns, it’s not like Kawhi Leonard and the other players can’t make it happen, either. And if they do make it to the next round, there is a chance PG could return then.
“The Clippers believe, I’m told, they’re going to have to get out of the first round for a real window for Paul George to return,” Charania said. “You get out of the first round and you give yourself a chance to get Paul George back.”
The Phoenix Suns are without a loss in every game Kevin Durant has paid so far. But the best time to beat them would be before they figure it all out after the first round. The Los Angeles Clippers could be the team to do it, they have an enigmatic superstar of their own. And the boost would provide excellent motivation for George to return as well.
