Russell Westbrook has been on the receiving end of criticism for a while now, as the Los Angeles Clippers player’s reputation has taken big hits in the last couple of years.

Things have reached new levels, and even people from other sports are trying to disrespect the 2017 NBA MVP. Recently, UFC legend Daniel Cormier explained how a fighter could win his bout by using a Russell Westbrook analogy.

It was odd to see why Russ’ name was being mentioned at UFC 288, but the former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion of the world used Russ as an example for Burns, explaining that just like Brodie, the Brazilian fighter has been eluded by a championship.

He’s been on several teams in the league, but after reaching the 2012 NBA Finals, Westbrook never returned to the biggest series of all.

Burns, on the other side, had a championship fight in 2021 against Kamaru Usman. The Nigerian fighter beat him via TKO, and ever since that moment, the Brazilian has been trying to get another chance at the belt, which right now belongs to Leon Edwards.

It seems like Burns didn’t listen to Cormier’s tips, as Belal Muhammad beat him via unanimous decision.

Russell Westbrook Is One Of The Most Disrespected Legends Of All Time

Meanwhile, Russell Westbrook keeps trying to live his life after his stint with the Los Angeles Clippers came to an abrupt end. The team looked set to take out the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the NBA playoffs, but a Kawhi Leonard injury killed all the hopes they had.

Brodie was on one, however, trying hard to beat the Suns, leading his team on both ends of the ball. In the end, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Chris Paul were too much for the Clippers.

Now, he’s reportedly on his way out of the team due to a money issue. The Clippers want to re-sign him beyond this season, but Westbrook’s demands could play against him.

The former MVP is one of the hardest worker players out there, and it’s frustrating to see how easily people hate him. That’s why Durant and Paul showered him in praise after their series was over, showing that Westbrook is highly respected around the league, except by those who really don’t know the game.
