  • Victor Wembanyama is yet to make his NBA debut for the San Antonio Spurs
  • The Frenchman had another massive mural dedicated to him in San Antonio already
  • Victor Wembanyama will play his first NBA game against the Dallas Mavericks

Victor Wembanyama is yet to take the floor officially for the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA, he has only played Summer League. Yet the hype around him in the city is so massive that he had another massive mural dedicated to him recently.

Victor Wembanyama is a Frenchman, but it seems that he is already being accepted into the community in San Antonio. The mural depicts Wembanyama holding a taco in his hands and is captioned, ‘Tacos mas cabrones!” This loosely translates to Victor Wembanyama asking people to fetch more tacos for him to eat.

Victor Wmebanyama has been questioned for his light frame, with suggestions that his body will be too delicate to handle the rigors of the NBA. So the mural could be a play on that as well, with the idea being that Wembanyama will become big and dominant by eating the San Antonio cuisine.

Victor Wembanyama’s Hype Means There Are Big Expectations From Him

What makes it crazy is that this is already the second big mural dedicated to Victor Wembanyama in San Antonio. For a player that hasn’t played a single game in the league, this could be seen as being a little excessive.

While the support is lovely, it will add to the overwhelming hype and expectations surrounding Wembanyama. Standing at 7’4 and being able to move like a guard, Wemby is a unicorn, but if he doesn’t perform, this same support will turn to boos.

This isn’t something that Victor Wembanyama isn’t prepared for, and he showed what he can do in the NBA Summer League. He had 27 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks in a game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The San Antonio Spurs have to and will surely be careful with Victor Wembanyama. Introducing him to the NBA will be a delicate affair and one that needs to be navigated carefully, but the Rookie Of The Year will be a minimum expectation for his debut season.
