The 2023 NBA Draft is less than a week away now and Victor Wembanyama is set to be picked first overall by the San Antonio Spurs.

That much was basically a given for quite a while now but there were question marks on whether Wembanyama would play in the Summer League after it. Well, we have the answer to that question from the man himself now.

“A little bit,” Wembanyama said when asked about playing in the Summer League.

The Spurs are scheduled to play in the California Classic in Sacramento which will take place on July 3rd and 5th. Considering Wembanyama plans to play in the Summer League, the first time we see him in Spurs colors on the court could be either against the Charlotte Hornets on the 3rd or the Los Angeles Lakers on the 5th.

The Frenchman doesn’t have anything to prove as such in the Summer League, but some game time certainly wouldn’t hurt. With the way the Spurs go about their business, they would want him to play as well.

The Spurs Aren’t Picking Up The Phone For Any Trade Proposal For Victor Wembanyama

There had been some talk on what kind of package would potentially be enough for the Spurs to trade the first pick of the draft. It turns out they won’t even pick up the phone for any potential trade as they believe Wembanyama can transform their franchise and he certainly seems capable of it.

He is coming into the NBA on the back of a stellar season in France, that saw him win the MVP award after he averaged 21.6 PPG, 10.1 RPG, 2.4 APG, and 3.1 BPG. He also won Best Scorer, Defender, Young Player, and Blocker of the Season, which is just absurd. He has been hailed as perhaps the greatest prospect in the history of team sports and we cannot wait to see him in action.
