Kevin Durant hugging Brittney Griner in a wholesome video ahead of his Phoenix Suns debut went viral on social media.

The veteran linked up with Griner, who was getting in some practice ahead of the 2023 WNBA season. And two of the league’s biggest stars shared a heartwarming moment that will surely have fans smiling.

Griner’s return to the United States was one of the major headlines in December. The seven-time All-Star was detained in Russia after her arrest in February 2022. She was arrested at an airport near Moscow after authorities reportedly found cannabis vape cartridges in her possession.

The WNBA champion was eventually returned as part of a prisoner exchange between the States and Russia. Since her return, she inked a one-year, $165,000 deal with the Phoenix Mercury.

Brittney Griner Once Kissed Kevin Durant During The Tokyo Olympics

Griner’s light-hearted moments were doing the rounds when she was arrested in Moscow, and one of them was an adorable peck on the cheek to Kevin Durant during the Tokyo Olympics.

In a clip that went viral, just like their aforementioned hug, Griner had her mask on, and pranked him with a cute kiss on the cheek, leaving Durant who was on Instagram Live clueless. Nonetheless, it was a good one, as the players around the duo were left in splits.

Players from both the NBA and WNBA traveled to Tokyo to represent team USA at the Olympics in 2021, and the powerhouses of the sport that they were, both teams returned with the gold.

Safe to say, the forward found the whole event funny and responded with a “You’re lucky I love you girl” comment.

The heartening moments aside, both stars will be locked in to perform at their best for their respective teams. While Griner will look to make a mark with her second championship, the Suns, with Durant, will be gunning for an NBA championship.
