Video: Security Amazingly Watches Protester Before Tackling Her To Floor

Game 4 of the Memphis/Minnesota series was a very exciting event. Two young teams embroiled in a close, back-and-forth playoff game is always going to be eye candy.

But the game also made headlines for another reason.

During the second half of action, a protestor tried to storm the court mid-game before security tackled her to the ground and escorted her out of the arena.

It might seem completely “normal” at first, but the woman wasn’t out there for kicks and giggles. It turns out that she was actually protesting the team’s owner and security knew it was going to happen — which is why they were able to act so fast.

Footage that appeared later shows a member of security sternly watching, and waiting, for the protester to storm the court.

The protest was sponsored by the Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) organization, a group devoted to protecting the interest of animal rights.

Apparently, DxE’s current mission is to raise awareness about the alleged animal cruelty at “Rembrandt Enterprises,” an egg farm in the U.S. that’s owned by Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor.

DxE has been responsible for a number of different protests, including the Timberwolves play-in game against the Clippers, when one fan glued herself to the floor.

The Timberwolves are hosting the game against the Clippers and saw a humorous fan moment take place. A woman stormed the court and superglued herself to the floor under the Clippers basket. She was wearing a t-shirt that read ‘Glen Taylor roasts animals alive’, prompting everyone to believe this was a vegan protestor.

Her protest failed, as security was quick to escort her away. There is no clear indication as to why Taylor was targeted in this protest. Fun fact: Animal blood and fats still make up the primary ingredients in many types of glue that are widely used, so using glue to send a message to promote veganism isn’t the home-run the protestor thought it would be.

Clearly, the security over at Target Center has been informed and prepared to go to war against these protesters. And while the Timberwolves may not have many games left to go this season, it’s possible another “demonstration” could take place before it’s all said and done.

It if does, you can bet the security will be ready to stop them in their tracks and re-take control of the court.
