The San Antonio Spurs haven’t provided the best action on the court this season. The young and rebuilding Spurs are hoping to build toward a bright future, and tanking for a high draft pick this season is necessary for the franchise to find its feet once again. In the meantime, the young players of the Spurs have taken the reins and are developing on the court.

One of these young players is Jeremy Sochan, the Spurs’ first-round pick from this year’s draft. Sochan is a defensive specialist with a rough offensive game right now. He is shooting 18% from three and 42.9% from the free throw line this season.

To combat his poor shooting from the line, Sochan is trying one-handed shots. A clip of the same went viral, as Sochan sunk a one-handed free throw while having the same color of hair Dennis Rodman did during his stint with the Spurs.

Rodman was also a defensive specialist with a rough offensive game, so the NBA will have a place for Sochan while he develops his scoring. If he does, he may develop into the next Kawhi Leonard for San Antonio.

A Bright Future In San Antonio?

The Spurs were expected to be one of the first teams in line for the Victor Wembanyama tankathon. Gregg Popovich openly told implied the Spurs were going to be bad when he warned journalists from placing bets on them to win a title. This is a rebuilding year, and everyone knows it.

Even if Wembanyama isn’t the Spurs’ savior, the draft class is deep, and the Spurs can develop any top pick that may fall to them. They’re already doing a great job in extracting potential from Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson, building towards a very exciting future for the squad. There’s no better coach than Gregg Popovich to make this vision come to life.
