Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe is one of the most ferocious dunkers in the NBA, and he’s put quite a few defenders on a poster in his short career. The 20-year-old was recently asked if he’d try to dunk on Victor Wembanyama, and Sharpe said he would.

“Yeah I mean if he’s there, I’ll try,” Sharpe said. “But he’s what 7’1″, 7’2”?”

When informed that the Frenchman is actually 7’4″, Sharpe had a priceless reaction.

“Are you serious? That’s OD, but I mean if I get the chance I’ll try,” Sharpe stated.

Considering how often the Frenchman’s height gets brought up when talking about him, I’m surprised Sharpe, who is averaging 18.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game this season, didn’t know about it. It is really incredible that a man that tall can do all the things that Wembanyama does on the court.

The least surprising outcome thanks to his height is that the 19-year-old has already established himself as one of the premier shot blockers in the NBA. Dunking on him won’t be easy by any means, but someone like Sharpe could pull it off.

We have to wait for a while to see them face off, however, as they’ll be playing back-to-back in Portland on December 28 and 29.

NBA Fans Reacted To The Viral Video

Sharpe’s reaction quickly went viral on social media and NBA fans found it to be rather hilarious, as they reacted to his comments.

One fan thinks Sharpe gave up after hearing how tall Wembanyama is, “Dude already gave up before trying.”

A fan wasn’t surprised Sharpe didn’t know the Frenchman’s height, “Shaedon and Cam Thomas are the type to not know a thing about the league they are playing in. They just show up to work lmao.”

One fan thinks Sharpe can do it, “He can punch it on Wemby easily.”

A fan found Sharpe’s reaction to be hilarious, “That’s OD is great.”

One wants to see Wembanyama get dunked on, “I want to see Wemby dunked on lol.”

We have seen him get dunked on, with Kai Jones famously posterizing Wembanyama on his Summer League debut. With how often the teenager contests shots at the rim, there will inevitably be a few times every season when someone gets him.

Victor Wembanyama Agreed With LeBron James Calling Him An Alien

Wembanyama was termed a “unicorn” when he burst onto the scene, but LeBron James felt that wasn’t right. There were already way too many players who had been called that, so he went one step beyond and termed him an “alien”.

LeBron had never seen anything like the Frenchman and Wembanyama agreed with James calling him an alien. His combination of size and skill just seems otherworldly and as long as he stays healthy, Wembanyama has a great chance to be one of the game’s all-time greats.

Coming into the game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night, Wembanyama was averaging 19.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 steals, and 2.2 blocks per game for the San Antonio Spurs. Those are incredible averages for a rookie, with his impact being strongly felt on both ends of the court.

It’s a bit of a long shot, but his becoming an All-Star as a rookie doesn’t seem like an outlandish claim at this point.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely.
