Zach LaVine is a free agent this offseason, and his future has been a matter of great interest for fans around the league. An All-Star and scoring option like LaVine is not easy to find for any NBA team, and his ability to take over games makes him an elite fit for just about every team in the league.

Understandably, a lot of teams are extremely interested in securing LaVine’s services. The Dallas Mavericks, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Portland Trail Blazers have all been mentioned as teams that would be interested. And while the Bulls are still hoping to retain him and continue building a contending team, that reportedly isn’t as likely a possibility as they might have initially assumed.

And for the franchise that has often been able to attract some really big names, the latest being LeBron James, a recent comment LaVine made could prove quite interesting. After LaVar Ball said that Zach LaVine would be going to the Lakers, the man himself was spotted in the city by TMZ. And when the reporter asked LaVine about the speculation, the All-Star smiled and gave a simple answer:

“I’ve always been a big fan.”

This is a fairly diplomatic answer by LaVine and one that’s not too surprising, but it’s still one that might excite LA fans. The franchise is one of the most successful in the history of the NBA, and the lifestyle in LA has always been an extremely attractive one for the biggest stars in the sports world.

Getting LaVine would mean that the Lakers have to find a way to move on from Westbrook though, which is easier said than done. They don’t have too many assets for a sign-and-trade either, which could prove to be another obstacle in making LaVine a Laker. One way or another, it remains to be seen if this bears any fruit for the team.
