The NBA offseason is underway now that the 2023 Draft is out of the way, and the madness of free agency is on the horizon.

With some big moves already, like the Golden State Warriors acquiring Chris Paul, other potential stars are being speculated about. One rumor that has come up a lot is Zach LaVine is leaving the Chicago Bulls, but it seems if he does, there’s one team his representatives are not interested in.

“Zach LaVine’s representatives would be against a deal to the Knicks,” the New York Daily News reported. “The Bulls are reportedly gauging interest in the All-Star guard, which prompted speculation that the Knicks — who are strapped with future draft assets — would get involved.

“But a source said the LaVine camp isn’t interested in dealing with the Knicks, who have a reputation around the league of favoring clients of CAA, the agency that employed Leon Rose before his move to the Knicks front office.”

It seems that there is some politics behind the scenes involving agencies that would stop LaVine from potentially becoming a Knick. This would be a shame for the Bulls, as the Knicks possess a plethora of assets that could result in the most compelling offer for LaVine.

At 27, LaVine is entering his prime and has been named an All-Star twice already in his career. Over 262 games in the last four seasons, LaVine has averaged 25.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. He has blossomed into an elite scorer, and the Knicks could use someone like him. It’s a shame that there seem to be obstacles in the way of it happening.

Zach LaVine Is Under Contract For Another Three Seasons, Making Him A Valuable Asset

Not only is Zach LaVine in his prime, but he is also under contract for three more seasons. While he is being paid a lot of money, nearly $130 million over the next three seasons, he would be a valuable addition to a lot of contending teams. The Portland Trail Blazers and the Miami Heat have already been mentioned as suitors.

It seems like a matter of if and not when regarding LaVine’s departure from Chicago, and it could happen as soon as this season. If these reports are to be believed, though, it will mean that the Knicks will not be in the running to get him.
