The Phoenix Suns are one of the best teams in the league at closing games, and that has a lot to do with their star point guard, Chris Paul.

In a conversation on ‘The Lowe Post’ podcast, expert ESPN analyst Zach Lowe shared his strong take on CP3 after noticing a particular trend about his teams.

“Year after year after year, the single most efficient path to being a good crunch time team is to get Chris Paul on your team… I don’t think people think of Chris Paul this way – he’s one of the greatest crunch-time players in the history of the NBA. He’s made a lot of big shots in the playoffs… it’s just been overshadowed by a couple of gaffes.”

Paul, 36, is widely considered one of the best point guards in history. He’s a brilliant passer and excellent leader with 11 All-Star appearances and a 3rd place ranking on the NBA’s All-Time assists list.

One of the more underrated parts of his game, though, is what he does for his teams in crunch time. Time and time again, he has proven himself to be a huge asset when the pressure is at its highest.

Back in 2017, he provided his loudest example of that fact by nailing a series-clinching shot against the Clippers.

Nowadays, he continues to impress the community at 36-years-old.

“People talk about LeBron looking like he’s not getting older or whatever. But Chris Paul, I think he’s as good now as I’ve ever seen him play,” said former Phoenix Suns All-Star Tom Chambers. “I mean he picks his spots. Last night he started off horribly, he was 0-9. But you knew in the 4th quarter, he wasn’t going to miss. I don’t know how a person can do that, I really don’t.”

It is under Paul’s leadership that the Suns made their first Finals appearance in over two decades. And it is under his leadership that they are coasting with a 17-game win streak.

We really need to appreciate what he’s doing.
