“Zion Williamson Has Lost 25 Pounds Since The Orlando Bubble,” Says Brian Windhorst

2 Min Read

Perhaps one of the biggest concerns regarding Zion Williamson was his size. The 6-6 power forward was pushing 285 pounds last season, an unusually risky weight considering his high-flying playstyle.

While we’ve only seen a few games of the 2020-21 season, some fans have noticed that Williamson looks a little light on his feet. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, it’s probably because the dude has lost almost 30 pounds since the Orlando bubble.

“I was told that Zion, and I don’t think they really wanted to publicize where he was physically when he came back to the bubble, but I have heard that it’s in excess of 25 pounds that he’s lost from where he was in the bubble to where he is now,” Windhorst said on his podcast. “He is not as svelte by any stretch of the imagination, but he definitely is moving better.”

Losing the weight will not only ease the stress on Zion’s body, but it will help him move a little bit better on the floor.

Already, we’re seeing the effects, with Zion averaging 21.7 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks through the first three games of the new season.

The question now is, what will it do for the Pelicans? No doubt, Williamson is their guy to build around moving forward, but it remains to be seen how far he can lead this team.

We should find out soon enough.
