Everybody hates losing. Even if you’re making millions of dollars just to play hoops, competitiveness wo n’t let you just quit on games, and that’s a huge reason why tanking teams sit their veterans.

Contents
  • 10. Antawn Jamison: 630
  • 9. Jason Terry: 633
  • 8. Juwan Howard: 634
  • 7. Kevin Garnett: 637
  • 6. Andre Miller: 638
  • 5. Elvin Hayes: 649
  • 4. Kevin Willis: 664
  • 3. Johnny Newman: 664
  • 2. Vince Carter: 686
  • 1. Jamal Crawford: 688

Having a losing record is something that’s beyond the control of most players, even though some of them ball their hearts out to try and do whatever it takes to single-handedly lead their teams to success.

Either because they’ve been around the league for quite a long time, because they’re jinxed or just because they were unlucky enough to play for a terrible team, some players have been known for being huge losers. Today, we’re going to let you know about the top 10 players with more losses ever.

10. Antawn Jamison: 630

We don’t talk about a baller of the likes of Antawn Jamison as much as we should do, but back in the day, he was one of the most entertaining scorers to watch in the league. Still, playing for over 15 seasons, he was a part of several bad teams. At least, he managed to win a 6th man of the year award.

9. Jason Terry: 633

Jason Terry is a fan favorite and a guy every coach would love to have on his roster, but with him playing for 18 seasons in the league, he’s got to be one of the biggest losers in NBA history as well. With 633 losses under his belt, no wonder the veteran will only play for a contender this year or else he will retire.

8. Juwan Howard: 634

There was a time when Juwan Howard was considered to be a second-tier power forward that could put easily log a double-double, but him playing for so many teams throughout a 17-year span, obviously, he’s got to be on this list. Still, he managed to win a Championship and make it to an All-Star game.

7. Kevin Garnett: 637

Kevin Garnett is one of the best players in the history of the game, but he spent most of his prime playing for a terrible Timberwolves team and then with the mediocre Nets following his lone successful stint at Boston. Naturally, after playing for bad teams (Except for the Celtics) through most of his 20 years in the league, this shouldn’t come as a surprise.

6. Andre Miller: 638

Death, taxes and an Andre Miller dime: the three things nobody could escape from. Even so, the crafty playmaker spent most of his time in the league jumping from team to team. Throughout 17 seasons, Miller handed out 8524 dimes, but also lost 638 games and never won an NBA Championship.

5. Elvin Hayes: 649

Elvin Hayes is remembered for being one of the most dominant players of basketball’s early years, playing in the league for a 15 season span. Even so, one of the greatest rebounders in the league never managed to win a Championship and has the 5th most losses in the history of the league despite his best efforts.

4. Kevin Willis: 664

Kevin Willis was around the league for almost two decades, and he’s tied with Johnny Newman for the 3rd most losses in NBA history. Playing for the Hawks, Heat, Nets, Warriors, Rockets, Raptors, Nuggets, Spurs and Mavericks, the swingman managed to win a Championship in 2003.

3. Johnny Newman: 664

Johnny Newman played for 15 years so it’s not surprising to see him pile up so many losses throughout his career. For most of his NBA tenure, the guard/forward was being dealt on salary dump trades, playing for the Brooklyn Nets, Dallas Mavericks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, and Denver Nuggets

2. Vince Carter: 686

This one shouldn’t come as a surprise considering Vince Carter has been in the league for almost two decades now, especially with him not playing for a contending team in almost 5 seasons. Still, Carter will go down as one of the best players never to win a Championship in the league, and perhaps the greatest dunker we’ve ever seen.

Unless the Phoenix Suns start winning games all of the sudden, Jamal Crawford is going to go down as the greatest loser in NBA history, something that doesn’t come as a surprise considering he’s been around the league since 2001. Even so, he’ll be remembered for his crossover and his scoring ability, as well as being one of the best sixth men ever.
