LeBron James Explains Why It’s Important For Men To Cry And Express Their Emotions: “Men Should Be Emotional When Something Hits Your Heart”

Kobe Bryant’s death shocked everybody, NBA fans or not, and there are plenty of reasons to think absolutely everyone cried a little about Kobe and the things he left behind. Bryant tragically passed in a helicopter crash last Jan. 26. He was accompanied by his daughter, Gianna, and seven other people.

Once the news saw the light, we witnessed the vulnerability of many NBA players who suddenly lost their hero, including LeBron James, who was spotted crying after getting off a plane with the Lakers the same day of the accident.

Bron, who was a close friend to Bryant, never hesitated to show his feelings, and he was seen letting the tears fall just 5 days after Bryant’s death during an emotional rendition of the National Anthem by Boyz II Men.

James explained why it’s okay for men to cry in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated’s Melissa Rohlin, stating, “Men should be emotional when something hits your heart.”

“When something feels a certain way, there’s no reason you shouldn’t be emotional about it. The emotion comes from, especially in this instance, somebody who has paved the way and done so many great things in our sport,” James said, speaking on not only a hero that he looked up to, but a good friend as well.

In a world where NBA players are seen as the toughest competitors in the world, it’s good to see one of the most important players in the history of the game speak out about a topic that is still a taboo in several places.

LeBron James has been very outspoken with sensitive topics and this hasn’t been the exception.
