NBA Rumors: Lakers, Clippers, And Raptors Showing Interest In Tristan Thompson

2 Min Read

29-year-old Tristan Thompson is expected to be among a list of available free agents this offseason. According to Evan Dammarell of Forbes, the Canadian big man is drawing interest from both the Clippers and Raptors.

“Thompson does have interested suitors on the market – mainly the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Toronto Raptors, according to league sources,” Dammarell wrote. “But, those same sources also shared that Thompson would like to try and finish his career with the Cavaliers and continue helping the team’s young core develop.”

Thompson is one of the most intriguing free agents in 2020. Often regarded as one of the best rebounders in the game, he averaged 12 points and 10.1 rebounds per game on 51% shooting.

His skillset would prove especially valuable for teams looking for an edge on the glass.

In Los Angeles, both the Clippers and Lakers are seeking frontcourt depth, and Thompson is a major improvement to who they currently have on the roster. Both teams are expected to be active in the free agent market this winter.

For the Raptors, they have aspirations of competing in the East for years to come — and the acquisition of Thompson would only make them better. The rebounding expert would thrive in a lineup with Serge Ibaka, Pascal Siakam, and Marc Gasol.

With the 2020-21 season expected to start in mid-December, it will only be a few more weeks before we find out where Thompson, and other free agents, land.
