Kyrie Irving Changed His Stance On ‘Not Having A Coach’ On The Nets: “I Think I Got To Take Back My Comments From A Few Months Ago.”

2 Min Read

Kyrie Irving finally played with Kevin Durant on the Nets after over a year of speculation about how the duo would work out in the league. Irving and Durant have earned a lot of criticism recently and plenty of people believed they teaming up was a very bad idea for the Nets. Well, the first game of preseason showed very good things from these players and the Nets have reasons to be excited.

They played under Steve Nash, a rookie coach that has apparently caused a very good impression on his two stars. While addressing the media for the first time this season, Kyrie talked about his comments a couple of months ago, claiming that he didn’t see the Nets having a coach since he could be the coach or Kevin Durant or anybody else. Well, Kyrie changed his mind after spending some time with Nash.

The Canadian legend has apparently enchanted the point guard and the latter has nothing but good words to say about him.

Via Malika Andrews of ESPN:

“Steve’s been amazing,” Irving said. “He kind of commands the respect. I think I’ve got to take back my comments in terms of the head coach back a few months ago. But it’s just like, man, we have such a great synergy. Everyone feels like we’re coaching one another to be better, so I’m grateful for that.”

Things are getting better for Kyrie. He finally talked with the media after trying to boycott them and he delivered some good lines. Irving is one of the most famous stars in the league and for better or worse, everything he says will always get coverage. Now that he’s with the Nets, a team with huge expectations entering this season, Kyrie is ready to prove everybody wrong alongside KD and demonstrate they can win a title without having LeBron James or Stephen Curry leading the way.
