NBA Rumors: 4 Eastern Conference Teams Are In The Running For Andre Drummond

2 Min Read

With the trade deadline approaching, the Cleveland Cavaliers are moving with increasing urgency to trade their star big man, Andre Drummond. As the team looks to their future, Drummond just doesn’t fit their long-term picture.

Several teams are in need of a big body in the paint and, according to what a league executive told basketball journalist Gery Woelfel, there are at least four teams interested in trading for him: the Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, and Brooklyn Nets.

As a 6-10, 279-pound center, Drummond provides an instant boost in the frontcourt to any team. With career numbers of 14.6 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game, it’s clear the guy excels at cleaning the glass and being a body under the rim. Perhaps best of all, Dre is on the final year of his deal, which means any team that trades for him will not be handcuffing themselves with a long-term commitment to an old-school big man.

The question is, how much of an impact can he still make on the modern NBA? His inability to stretch the floor can be a liability, and it certainly hasn’t helped make things easier for the Cavs this season.

Whatever the case, we can expect Drummond to be wearing a different jersey before too long — whether it’s via trade or on his own will in free agency.
