Zion Williamson Says That Outside Of New Orleans, New York Is His Favorite Place To Play Basketball

2 Min Read

Zion Williamson has made the franchise of New Orleans relevant in the NBA world. The exciting prospect brought his talents to the Pelicans through the draft, and throughout his first two seasons, Williamson seems like he’s acclimated well to the roster in New Orleans. While the team itself is inconsistent, Zion Williamson has been one of the positives this season, showing a new level of dominance on the interior due to his athleticism.

Zion Williamson may currently play for New Orleans, but prior to him getting drafted, it was rumored that the New York Knicks would pick Williamson up with the first-round pick. Playing in New York, at Madison Square Garden, is an experience that many basketball stars enjoy, and Zion Williamson is no different. While he obviously enjoys playing in New Orleans, he did mention that New York is his favorite place to play basketball aside from his current city.

I mean, New York is the mecca of basketball. I love playing here. I played here in college, and this my first time playing here in the pros. I mean this atmosphere, whether they’re cheering for you or booing you, is amazing… I think this might be my favorite place to play outside of New Orleans. I can’t even lie to you.

Madison Square Garden is definitely a spot where the lights are brightest, and it makes sense that players like playing under the spotlight. Sometimes that leads to insane performances. Despite his team’s recent loss against the New York Knicks, Zion Williamson still put on an amazing performance, scoring 39 points in an overtime game. While the New York Knicks didn’t end up being the franchise that drafted him, he’ll still have plenty of opportunities to play at Madison Square Garden throughout his career.
