While names like LaMelo Ball and Killian Hayes continue to generate a lot of hype, Filippino star Kai Sotto is quietly doing his thing.

The basketball phenom has been on a number of draft boards lately and while he is still years away from being NBA-ready, his most recent move will serve as a major test to his skills.

According to Shams Charania, Sotto is set to become the first international collegiate player to sign with the G-League pro program.

Kai Sotto — a 7-foot-2 center from the Philippines — has decided to skip college and will be the first international draft prospect to sign a deal in the NBA G League pro program, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium.

With comparisons to Kristaps Porzingis, Sotto has the potential to be a great fit for the modern NBA with his long frame and exceptional offensive talent.

Of course, it remains to be seen how his game will develop and translate to the NBA level. As the first Filipino prospect to show so much promise, nobody really knows what to expect from Sotto.

But his decision to skip college may help him adjust to the physicality of NBA basketball and focus on honing in his skillset for the big leagues. Regardless, this is just the beginning for Kai, who is shaping up to be a real prize.
