Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are both fantastic players. They are both great wings that impact the floor on both ends. Despite their individual abilities, the Boston Celtics are below .500 with a 13-14 record, though it should be noted that Jaylen Brown missed a fair chunk of time this season with an injury.
There has been a lot of talk about Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown being unable to work together. NBA insider Jake Fischer has recently revealed that the Boston Celtics could elect to split the duo up in the future, with “Jaylen Brown heading out the door”.
The Suns took care of the Celtics last night, sending them to a 13-14 record.

There is not much interest in the former first-round picks that Boston has. From Payton Pritchard to Romeo Langford to Grant Williams. I think Aaron Nesmith has the highest value of that group. It’s difficult.
That’s kind of why they’re in the situation that they’re in right now. They had draft pick after draft pick after draft pick, that hasn’t netted them anything more than back of the rotation type players. They haven’t really developed anybody outside of that besides Robert Williams, and they are where they are.
I think this is definitely the beginning of the end for the Jayson Tatum – Jaylen Brown pairing. I don’t know if that will get broken up this season. But I think sometime in the next 12-18 months we’re really going start to hear about to hear the conversations about the future of Boston with Jaylen Brown heading out the door.
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum do have a good relationship with one another, and it could be wise to hold on to both and see what they can do together with the team fully healthy. However, if the Celtics can get another All-Star talent that fits better with Jayson Tatum in return for Jaylen Brown, a trade could be worth it.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens. As Fischer mentions the timeline for this is “the next 12-18 months”, so the Tatum and Brown duo has some time to help the Boston Celtics turn things around this year.
