Kendrick Perkins Says Stephen Curry Is “The Golden Child Of The NBA”: ‘He’s The People’s Champ. Everybody Was Watching His Game Last Night…”

After being one of his biggest haters, Kendrick Perkins has become one of the biggest admirers of Stephen Curry. The Golden State Warriors point guard is having a sweet season with the Dubs, demonstrating he’s the best player in the league night in and night out.

Curry had the chance to beat Ray Allen’s all-time 3-point record on Wednesday, but he came up short, only making six 3s during the game. Everybody was watching the player and rooting for him. Unfortunately, he couldn’t reach the milestone.

Still, Perkins was surprised by the attention the game received, praising Curry’s level and calling him the ‘people’s champ.’ During Thursday’s edition of NBA Today, the big man made a case for Steph.

“Watching the game last night, I witnessed something. Steph Curry is the people’s champ. When you look at Steph Curry, everybody was watching his game last night. If you couldn’t get to a television or your phone, if you was traveling like I was, you were watching it play by play just to see if he would break the record. That showed a lot.”

“They gravitate towards him, they wanna see him. he brings such joy to the game of basketball.”

Perkins doubled down on those comments on Twitter, calling Curry the ‘golden child of the NBA’ given all the good things he brings to the table and the fact that everybody wants to see him play.

“Watching the Golden State game last night made me realize that Steph Curry is the GOLDEN CHILD of the NBA!!! Carry the hell on…”

Steph will have another chance to break Allen’s record this Saturday, but the job won’t be any easier. He’ll face the Philadelphia 76ers, where his brother plays, hoping to become the regular-season 3-point leader. Just like on Wednesday, a lot of people will tune in to watch The Chef do his thing and make history once again.
