The Brooklyn Nets hosted the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night, hoping to extend the Dubs’ losing streak following a surprising loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.
Stephen Curry wouldn’t let that happen and led his squad to the win, dropping 37 points on the Nets’ weak defense. After the first quarter, the Warriors had a walk to the victory, winning the match 117-99 at Barclays Center.
Brooklyn is still figuring things out without Kyrie Irving on the court, and they were doing a great job. Right now, they rank 3rd in the East with a 10-5 record. Still, they feel there’s a lot to do to reach the highest level. Head coach Steve Nash opened up on his team’s level right now, admitting he doesn’t think these Nets belong to the same category as the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks.
“I just don’t think we’re in that category yet,” Nash told reporters. “We got a lot of work to do. … I think the guys have been great as far as buying into what we want to do defensively. No one would have picked us as a top-10 defense to start the year.”

After a tumultuous 2020/21 NBA season full of injuries, the Nets hoped to make some improvements on both ends of the ball. They’re still trying to become a solid defensive team, but that will take time.
Just like Nash, James Harden admitted they are working to get things better, comparing his team to the Golden State Warriors, who have used their system for many years.
If the Nets can take their offensive work to the defense, this team can do a lot of damage for the next seasons. We are yet to see Kyrie Irving on the court this season, but that hasn’t been a big issue for them. The focus is on different things now, as they try to reach the level of the four most balanced teams in the league.
