Chris Webber Says Allen Iverson Is The Best Player He’s Ever Played With

Allen Iverson was a phenomenal shooting guard, who is widely known for his cultural impact on the NBA and his 2001 NBA Finals run. He was a fantastic player who could carry a team’s scoring, and there’s no doubt that many respected him for his love of the game and his abilities.

Chris Webber had the Iverson experience first hand, as they were teammates during Webbers’ time on the Philadelphia 76ers. A recent article by Shams Charania of The Athletic featured some of Chris Webber’s words on Iverson, ahead of Webber finally becoming a Hall of Famer. Webber admitted that Iverson was the best player he had played with, while also claiming that it was an “honor” to play with the electric guard.

A.I. is the best athlete that I’ve ever seen in my life. Period. He’s the best player I’ve ever played with. Period. And I wish I could have got there before — I wish I could have got there with a good knee. Out of all the players that played with him, I averaged the most points. It made me feel good and it pissed me off because I think I could’ve given him seven or eight more points. It was an honor to play with him. I think about the fans of Philly, and they get a terrible rap, but they showed me love when I shouldn’t have. They showed me at a time where they didn’t have to.

It is mentioned by Webber that he wishes he could have teamed up with Allen Iverson while he still had a healthy knee, and that would have certainly been a sight to behold. Webber was one of the best big men of his era, and he and Allen Iverson could have formed a dynamic one-two punch. Allen Iverson carries a lot of respect around the league, and for very good reason. It’s unfortunate that he never won a championship, but even without that award, he remains a legend.
