When Singer Kenny Rogers Faked Out Michael Jordan During An Exhibition Game And MJ Took It Personally

Michael Jordan unleashed his power against everybody who faced him on a basketball court. Not only he did it in the NBA but also in pickup games, demolishing rivals with his good displays.

His Airness often played against celebrities during the summer, including Charlie and Martin Sheen in an incredible 2-on-1 game. Moreover, Jordan faced more big basketball enthusiasts during his prime, including singer Kenny Rogers.

In 1988, the Chicago Bulls legend clashed with Rogers and Dominique Wilkins in the Kenny Rogers’ Classic Weekend 1988. After Rogers faked Jordan out and drained a long shot, things went wrong for the singer. That sparked that extreme competitiveness inside Jordan, who took things personally and won the game independently.

After that play, Jordan was more intense, clinching the game with two baskets that left their rivals helpless. Following a game-tying mid-range, Jordan went back to defense, recording a clutch block and rebound.

He had the last ball of the game, drove to the basket against Wilkins and Rogers, finishing the game with a tough layup. The game ended 22-20, with MJ having the last laugh after that play by Rogers.

MJ was ruthless whenever he felt disrespected, even if it was in a pickup game. That fake shot was enough to drive him crazy and take his game to the next level. He went off, scoring the last four points of the game to secure the W in front of an excited crowd.
