Kyle Lowry is an upcoming free agent who is likely to draw interest from a lot of teams. There are a lot of reasons to be interested in the point guard despite the fact that he is entering the latter stages of his career. Lowry is a 6-time All-Star who has been the leading guard on a championship-winning team. He is one of the best complementary players a team could put next to a superstar, and Lowry can still play at a very high level.

This upcoming free agency is likely Kyle Lowry’s last chance to earn a huge payday, based on his age and likely future decline. Adam Borai of Five Reasons Sports has reported that Kyle Lowry wants a 3-year deal worth $90 million. While that may seem like an overpay for an aging point guard, there are times that teams need to overpay in order to get talent on their roster.

It remains to be seen whether teams will be willing to pay Lowry that kind of money, though Borai does mention that some people on the Heat “are confident” about getting Lowry even with his demands. Kyle Lowry would be a great fit on the Miami Heat, and his shooting and playmaking for others will do a lot to improve that roster. If Lowry does want that kind of money, it is likely that he will have to go to the Miami Heat via sign and trade.

There is no question that paying Kyle Lowry a $90 million dollar is a risk for any team. However, winning oftentimes is predicated on star power, and Kyle Lowry is a star who has managed to win at the highest level. It remains to be seen what will happen with his free agency, but regardless of where he goes, it looks as though Kyle Lowry wants his last big deal.
