Bill Russell Praises Giannis Antetokounmpo Treating Teammates After Winning NBA Championship

Giannis Antetokounmpo just had one of the greatest performances in a close-out NBA Finals game in the history of the league. When he was questioned and called out, he delivered with an incredible run in the playoffs.

There’s no denying that Giannis is one of the best players in the world right now. Even for those who say that he ‘has no bag’ or ‘no skills’, there’s just nothing you can say about him now that he’s hoisting both the Larry O’Brien and Bill Russell trophies.

That’s why the man himself took to Twitter to congratulate Giannis on an incredible run, letting him know just how proud he was for the way he was hooking up his teammates with cigars while hugging the Finals MVP trophy:

“I like how you are taking care of that #MVP trophy while taking care of your teammates,” Russell said.

I like how you are taking care of that #MVP trophy whaile taking care of your teammates @Giannis_An34 @Bucks #FearTheDeer https://t.co/2BD8l8g86h

This is perhaps what people like about Giannis the most. He’s a superstar, he knows it. He’s generationally wealthy, yet he hasn’t changed a bit. He’s the same humble, easy-going, down-to-earth kid that made it to the league out of Greece.

Giannis knows that he wouldn’t have been able to accomplish all of this without his teammates and, albeit some believe that he disrespected them by saying that the Bucks weren’t a super team, he’s always been a team-first kind of guy.

Antetokounmpo has already put together perhaps the greatest résumé for a 26-year-old in NBA history, winning Most Improved Player, 2 Most Valuable Player awards, one Defensive Player of the Year, one NBA Championship, and one Finals MVP award. That’s a Hall of Famer résumé and he hasn’t even reached his prime yet.

So yeah, he better get used to that feeling, as he’s definitely going back to that stage at least one more time in his career.
