Klay Thompson’s Father Mychal Thompson Selects The 5 Best NBA Players Of All Time

Throughout history, fans, pundits, and even players have engaged in the never-ending debate about the greatest players of all time.

If things are difficult when we talk about just one player (Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, or LeBron James) then it’s almost impossible to choose the greatest starting five of all time.

That’s why Lakers great Mychal Thomspon took the time to be up all night trying to figure out who the 5 greatest NBA players ever were until he finally came to his conclusion:

According to Klay Thompson’s father, the all-time best starting five should consist of Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Wilt Chamberlain:

“Wilt Kareem Jordan Lebron…Kobe…I think thats it…THAT’S the list…I’ve been sittin here all night trying to figure out who’re the top 5 players in history…And I think I just figured it out…Them 5 could do it ALL…Every facet of the game that’s required…Score Rebound Defend Pass Lead,” Thompson tweeted.

Well, you may or may not be a fan of some of these players, but you can’t argue that they’re 5 of the top 8 best to ever do it. Hell, it would be quite tough to come up with a best top 5 than him.

Obviously, younger fans would be tempted to add guys like Kevin Durant into the mix and they wouldn’t be wrong, but that doesn’t make Thompson’s list any worse.

At the end of the day, trying to pick the five best players to ever lace them up is as futile as it is difficult. That’s a list that could change from one year to the other, and it’s pretty unlikely that you’ll find two people who agree on the same list.

We should just be thankful for all the great players we’ve witnessed and hopefully, many more will try to make their way into this list rather sooner than later.
