Dwyane Wade Says He Wishes He Could Have Played LeBron James Or Kobe Bryant In The Finals

Dwyane Wade doesn’t have many regrets when it comes to his 17-year NBA career. By the time he hung up his shoes in 2019, the dude was a 13x All-Star, 8x All-NBA player, and 3x NBA Champion.

But if there’s one thing the legendary guard wishes he could have done, it’s facing off against LeBron James or Kobe Bryant in the NBA’s highest level of competition. Here’s what he said in an interview with DwyaneWadeEdits:

“I wanted to at least play Bron in the Eastern Conference Finals,” Wade said. “We were so close. Because I’m a competitor. It’s mostly about, being able to have that story, that moment with some of the best players to have played the game. I never got to have that moment in the playoffs. When I was younger, I went to a different level when the playoffs came.

So I wanted to be able to see those guys in those moments and stack myself versus them. So if there’s anything in my career that I wish I did, that would be one of the things: I wish I would have played LeBron or Kobe in the Finals.”

Wade has been to five NBA Finals over his career. The first was with Dallas in 2006, then against Dallas again in 2011, OKC, and then the Spurs twice.

While Wade was able to call Bron his teammate for a time, It’s really unfortunate that we never got to see the Heat star square off against his friends in the Finals. Judging by some of their meeting in the regular season, a series between Wave vs. LeBron or Kobe would have been awesome to see.

Nevertheless, we’ll have to leave those thoughts to our imagination for now…
