NBA Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers Could Land Damian Lillard For A Monster Package This Summer

The Los Angeles Lakers are the team to beat in the Western Conference this season. They’re coming off being the reigning NBA Champions and put together an even deeper team in the offseason, but that doesn’t mean that they’re a sure thing to win back-to-back rings.

The Eastern Conference features some interesting teams in the Brooklyn Nets, Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, and Miami Heat, so the purple-and-gold must do whatever it takes to continue strengthening their roster and adding a third superstar next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

That’s why the Los Angeles Lakers should finally go all-in and trade for Damian Lillard. He’s one of the best scorers in the game, and even though the Portland Trail Blazers have a solid core, it’s unlikely that it’ll be enough for them to go the distance.

But, how would the Los Angeles Lakers match Damian Lillard’s massive salary? Well, they could trade away Alex Caruso, Kenvatious Caldwell-Pope, Kyle Kuzma, and complete a sign-and-trade with Montrezl Harrell if he agrees to opt-out of the second year of his contract.

This way, the Portland Trail Blazers could try and run it back with a more-balanced core with Championship experience and finally tighten their defense, while the Los Angeles Lakers will get their three-headed monster to compete with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, and Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

This could be a bit of a reach, but if the Lakers fail to go back-to-back this season and fall to the hands of one of these superstar duos, maybe Rob Pelinka will be willing to pull the trigger and make yet another massive blockbuster trade.
