Markelle Fultz is having a terrific start to the season with the Orlando Magic, balling like a star right now. Fultz was considered by some as a bust but the player has proved his doubters wrong. The Magic is 4-0 right now and Fultz has played a key role in that situation.
Nobody remembers that guy in Philadelphia that didn’t look like a No. 1 overall pick but a lot of people do remember the trade that sent him to Florida last year. Bill Simmons of The Ringer is one of those and he sent a big message to Elton Brand, the Sixers’ GM, blaming him for making such a bad move with Fultz, receiving too little in return for the young guard.
During a recent edition of The Ringer podcast, Simmons explained that Brand has made worse moves than that as the general manager of the team so people shouldn’t be that surprised that he took “10 cents for a dollar” in the Fultz trade.
“Elton Brand trading 20-year-old Markelle Fultz to Magic for a top-20 protected pick and Jonathon Simmons, basically 10-cent for a dollar. Fultz is now a legit keeper, believe it or not, that’s not even Elton Brand’s worst trade as GM.”
Now with the Magic, Fultz has blossomed into a good player, leading his team to be one of the surprises in the East and the NBA right now. He’s proving that he can be a good asset in the association and the Magic can’t be happy to get this guy, who has created a great association with Nikola Vucevic.
