In a pregame interview with Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas, Thomas noted one of the largest contributions LeBron brings to his teams, unity. Unity not just in his leadership out on the court during games too, Thomas said on NBA TV

“LeBron James… understands how to bring people together collectively off the court. He is the best leader right now in the NBA in terms of gathering, focusing a team, and moving them forward throughout the season.”

James has had success with his leadership, winning 4 NBA championships throughout his career, winning Finals MVP each time. LeBron’s unity was seen in his last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he went out of his way to make sure all the players on his team had on the same fancy suit.

LeBron and his Lakers have a tough season ahead of themselves, getting minimal rest after winning an NBA Championship on October 11th whereas some teams have had since March to rest and prepare for the 2020-2021 season. Isiah Thomas seems to believe in the four-time MVP’s ability off the court to make an impact on the court.

The Lakers have been placed in a less-than-ideal scenario given their lack of rest. LeBron has admitted that the situation puts them at a disadvantage but looks to mitigate and work through LA’s troubles throughout the coming season.

It will be interesting to see if the leadership James provides can bring the Lakers a back-to-back championship. The 2020-2021 season marks James’ 18th year in the league.
