The Golden State Warriors lost 110-105 in heartbreaking fashion to the Indiana Pacers. The Warriors looked to be getting back into the game in the fourth quarter. But they weren’t able to hold on, as Myles Turner sunk the dagger three with seconds to go giving the Pacers a five-point lead over the Warriors that was enough to see out the rest of the game.
Stephen Curry had a night to forget, putting up just 10 points (2-13 FG), five rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks. Andrew Wiggins did his best to keep the Warriors in the game, with 16 points (7-16 FG), four rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Jonathan Kuminga was the leading scorer, coming off the bench to score 26 points (9-16 FG), eight rebounds, four assists, and one block.
As for the Pacers, they were led by Myles Turner, who had 23 points (9-14 FG), 10 rebounds, one assist, and three blocks. Pascal Siakam had 20 points (9-18), five rebounds, one assist, and two steals. Tyrese Haliburton put up 16 points (6-11 FG), six rebounds, 12 assists, and two steals.
It was a bad showing from the Warriors, who now fall to a 15-13 record for the season, and currently sit eighth in the Western Conference. Their strong start to the season has completely fallen by the wayside.
NBA fans reacted to the Warriors’ poor performance. Fans who love the Warriors expressed their frustration, whereas neutral fans either mocked them, or pointed to the team’s flaws, not just in performance, but in construction as well. Many were quick to criticize Stephen Curry for his shoddy outing.
“This Warriors team can be pretty, pretty frustrating at times…”
“Pacers are a sh*tty defensive team so these Warriors turnovers are funnier than usual.”
“Refs doing whatever they can to kill Steph’s momentum LMAO.”
“There’s no one like Steph.”
“The Warriors lose, it’s on Stephen Curry. No one else besides him.”
“Ahhh good to see the Warriors still can’t score in crunch time SMH.”
“I hope Warriors’ fans are seeing why Wiggs and JK should not be added to any trade package?”
“Warriors can make anything except wide-open threes, layups, and free throws.”
“Every Warriors game is a close game…”
“NGL Steph Curry cost the Warriors this game SMH.”
“Yeah, that’s why I hate this strength in numbers shit. You dont need 10 inconsistent but talented players. You need a consistent 3-5 and some real role players/specialists.”
The fan frustration around the Warriors is understandable, as the franchise has lost four of their last five games, and has completely fumbled their strong start to the season.
The Warriors will not have time to lament this loss or feel bad for themselves. They are set for a marquee Christmas Day fixture at home against the Los Angeles Lakers at 8 PM EST. Playing against a conference and division rival is a big test, and the Warriors will need to try and win to turn their fortunes around.
