Kyrie Irving Burns Sage At TD Garden Before His Return Game Against The Celtics

Some NBA players have unusual pregame warmups, Kevin Garnett was known to hype himself up to the point of yelling at anyone who tried to talk to him, Joel Embiid gets a massage and eats hamburgers. Kyrie Irving’s most recent ritual before tonight’s 8:00 pm game against the Boston Celtics seems a little superstitious, the Nets All-Star was found burning sage.

It seems a little pointed, Kyrie played for Boston for two seasons before signing with the Brooklyn Nets in 2019 as a free agent. Irving led the Celtics to a good start in the first half of his first season before getting injured for the remainder.

Kyrie’s final season was a lot more complicated with multiple star-caliber players in Jayson Tatum, Gordon Hayward, Jaylen Brown all competing for playing time. Boston tremendously underperformed and got swept four games to one by the Milwaukee Bucks.

It seems like Kyrie is aware of how unlucky a season he had trying to ward off the misfortunes of the 2019 Celtics. Hopefully, the star point guard’s luck will change in Kevin Durant’s first season with Brooklyn, after the two agreed to join forces in the New York City borough.

Kyrie missed the NBA playoffs in the Orlando bubble last season due to an injury he sustained in early February. KD injured himself in the 2019 Finals with the Golden State Warriors. The Nets’ regular-season matchup with the Celtics lands on Christmas day, they play the Warriors for their season opener on December 22nd.
