3 Superteams That Would Be Impossible To Beat: Lakers, Bulls And Warriors

We have seen some great teams throughout NBA history. Some of the best teams have had dominating regular seasons such as the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls that went 72-10 and also the Golden State Warriors Superteam that went 73-9. We also saw how a dominant Lakers team led by Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant went 15-1 in the playoffs to win the 2000 NBA championship. But which team today compares to some of the all-time teams?

In a hypothetical sense, 3 super teams can be formed to go an unbelievable 98-0 during the regular season and the playoffs combined. By taking the top-15 players in the NBA and allocating them to the Lakers, Warriors, and Bulls we can recreate the greatest teams of all time except have them go 98-0. Here are the 3 superteams that nobody in NBA history could defeat on their path to a legendary 98-0 record.

Lakers Superteam

LeBron James, Damian Lillard, Jimmy Butler, Luka Doncic, Anthony Davis

Lakers Superteam

With LeBron James at the point guard position, this Lakers super team would go a whopping 98-0 over an entire NBA season. There isn’t a better playmaker in the NBA than LeBron James and he will be particularly dominant surrounded by four other All-Stars. There isn’t another superstar player in NBA history who performs better with other superstars around him than LeBron James because he is the ultimate team player.

Anthony Davis is one of the five best players in the world right now and we all saw how well he and LeBron played well together to win the title this year. In this superteam, Damian Lillard will start at shooting guard while Jimmy Butler plays on the wing. Lillard and Butler complement each other perfectly because the former is an offensive superstar while Butler is one of the best two-way players in the NBA.

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic will start at power forward because he has great strength and size for his age, and has an unbelievable skill set where he can rebound and score at a high level. This team will be unstoppable offensively but they might have slight problems on defense, although Jimmy Butler will be invaluable in that regard. Overall, nobody will defeat this Lakers team once during an entire season including the playoffs.

Warriors Superteam

Stephen Curry, James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic

Warriors Superteam

We are only 2 years removed from the Golden State Warriors Dynasty that featured Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant. To hypothetically create another Golden State Warriors Dynasty, Stephen Curry will have to be the leader and point guard for the team. Joining him in the backcourt is the best scorer in the NBA James Harden with Kawhi Leonard on the wing.

MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic control the paint in the best all-around lineup in NBA history. There will be no weakness for this team because Kawhi Leonard makes up for Curry’s and Harden’s defensive woes while Giannis is currently the best 2-way player in the game.

Trying to defend both Stephen Curry and James Harden is laughable. Both players can go off for 40 points and make it look effortless due to their shooting and ability to create their own shots. Harden requires two or three defenders at a time, so imagine having Steph Curry running off of screens next to him. Kawhi Leonard is a two-time finals MVP in one of the greatest two-way players ever, so he adds yet another unstoppable force on the team. Giannis Antetokounmpo can’t be defended with one player either, and opposing teams need all five guys to stop him when he’s in the paint.

Similarly, Jokic is a tremendous scorer and passer inside the paint. Imagine Giannis or Jokic kicking out shots to Curry for threes or receiving easy passes from Harden. This team would go 98-0 and it wouldn’t even be fair.

Bulls Superteam

Russell Westbrook, Bradley Beal, Paul George, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid

Bulls Superteam

The last Superteam that would go 98-0 will be in Chicago. While there won’t be an equal to Michael Jordan on this team, there are 5 All-Stars and unbelievable talents that will play together. Kevin Durant is the star of this team because he is one of the best offensive players of all time. He can shoot over any defender thanks to his height, and he also possesses incredible dribbling skills and passing ability.

Durant will be reunited with his old teammate Russell Westbrook who always plays like it’s the last game of his life. With Russ pushing the pace and Kevin Durant being the number one option, this duo would be unstoppable once again.

But they have more talent around them this time. Joining Westbrook in the backcourt is Bradley Beal, one of the best scorers in the league, and Paul George plays alongside Kevin Durant at the forward spot. Beal is an amazing offensive player because he can play with or without the ball as he can create for himself and others, or spot up for shots. Playing with Westbrook and Durant will open up the floor for him and Paul George as well.

George is an excellent 2-way player and he will be responsible for shutting down the opposing team’s best player. George is also a great secondary star so he will shine in this role. In the middle is talented big man Joel Embiid to tie up a completely unstoppable offensive team. Embiid can score every time inside, but being bolstered with the likes of Durant and Beal means he never has to worry about being double-teamed. This team goes 98-0 because their pace of play will be too much to handle.
