Allen Iverson shared a heartfelt letter to the late Kobe Bryant yesterday, on Kobe Bryant day. The Philadelphia 76ers legend shared the latter, called ‘Dear Kobe’, to the Los Angeles Lakers icon, one day after what would’ve been his 42nd birthday. Iverson talked about the things they did when they clashed on the court, describing his admiration for Kobe and how great he thinks the Black Mamba was.

At some point, he talked about Kobe asking him who was the greatest player of all time, with AI replying MJ was, but Kobe was right behind him on his all-time list. The Answer recently talked about the GOAT and a lot of people were confused believing Iverson had picked LeBron James. Well, that wasn’t the case and he has confirmed that now, putting MJ, ‘Black Jesus’ first, followed by Kobe, his most famous pupil.

I can’t tell you how many pictures I’ve seen of me and you, at the free throw line, talking our sh*t and just smiling.

Any time anybody asks me, “Who’s the greatest of all-time?”

I’m not going to bullsh*t you. M.J. is always Number 1. I know you’d say the same. Black Jesus, that’s the G.O.A.T.

But Number 2?

Number 2, I’m always going to say it’s Kobe Bryant.

Nobody was tougher than you. Nobody got more out of me. We’re linked forever in this game — in this life.

I just wish we’d had more time.

Iverson was one of those people who really felt Kobe’s loss. They clashed in the NBA Finals in 2001 and even though the Lakers dominated the Sixers, Kobe knew he had a great rival in Allen. Those duels are part of the past now but they will never be forgotten, just like Kobe and his incredible legacy.
