Jalen Brunson Claps Back At Josh Hart For His Wild ‘Wanting Dick’ Comment

Jalen Brunson made it clear that Josh Hart was lying about him 'wanting Dick' in the Knicks-Raptors game.

Josh Hart loves pulling Jalen Brunson’s leg and he was back at it after the New York Knicks beat the Toronto Raptors 113-108 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. The Knicks, of course, went up against Gradey Dick in this game and Hart wildly stated that Brunson was very interested in taking on Dick.

“Second half, Jalen Brunson kept saying, ‘I want Dick, I’ll take Dick,’” Hart said.

Hart is certainly the one player in the NBA who I’d expect to make such a comment. With the quote going viral, Brunson felt the need to take to X to make it clear that his teammate was lying.

“He’s lying on my name,” Brunson said.

Brunson is definitely the more reliable of the two, so I’ll take his word here. I’m fairly certain Hart had planned in advance to say this after the Raptors game and I find it hilarious how NBA players are having a bit of fun using Gradey’s last name. The man himself did it too last season.

Dick and Anthony Black exchanged jerseys after the Raptors played the Orlando Magic back in March. I expected it to become a common occurrence, but since then, we haven’t seen him pose for pictures after exchanging jerseys. Perhaps the NBA or the Raptors intervened and told Dick not to fool around in this fashion.

Getting back to this game, Brunson, Hart, and the rest of the Knicks did a pretty good job of slowing down Dick. The 21-year-old had just seven points (3-11 FG) and six rebounds in the contest. Dick, the 13th pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, has had a fabulous sophomore season, but the Knicks managed to slow him down to drop the Raptors to 7-18 on the season.

While Dick struggled offensively, Brunson did not. The one-time All-Star had 20 points (7-13 FG), four rebounds, and 11 assists against the Raptors. As for Hart, he finished with 10 points (4-9 FG), four rebounds, three assists, and a steal, as the Knicks improved to 15-9 on the season.

The Knicks have certainly hit their stride after a slow start to the campaign. They were 4-5 after nine games and have gone 11-4 since. Their new arrivals are starting to click, with Karl-Anthony Towns (24 points) and Mikal Bridges (23 points) impressing in this win over the Raptors. They now look like the formidable outfit they were expected to be and I see them going on a deep playoff run this season.

Jalen Brunson And Josh Hart Have Two Very Different Motivations To Win The NBA Cup

The Knicks are next in action in the NBA Cup, as they take on the Atlanta Hawks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday at 7 PM ET in the quarterfinals. Both Brunson and Hart want to win the NBA Cup, but they have very different motivations for it.

“Jalen Brunson said he wanted to win the NBA Cup in part to help teammates on min. salaries and 2way deals to get a $500k payday. Asked Josh Hart after practice today about winning the Cup so those teammates could get paid: ‘No. I wanna win cause I want a damn watch. The new AP.'”

Every single player on the winning team will get $514,971 this season and Hart can’t wait to buy a new Audemars Piguet watch with the prize money. The 29-year-old hilariously stated he couldn’t care less about his teammates but I’m sure he actually does care.
