Draymond Green: “I’m Going Back To Be That Guy. Since They All Seem To Have Forgotten.”

3 Min Read

Draymond Green is ready to help the Golden State Warriors in their return to the top of the league. This season wasn’t the best for the Dubs, who got used to making the Finals in the last five years. Instead, they had the worst record in the NBA after losing Kevin Durant in free agency, as well as Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry due to injuries.

Green is a great player but he couldn’t carry the team like Curry, Klay or KD. This season was his worst, statistically speaking, but Draymond is ready to get his revenge next season. The Warriors are hopeful to see his best version again and they posted a video of Draymond going off on the Denver Nuggets in 2016. That day he posted 29 points, 17 rebounds, 14 assists and four steals.

He re-posted the video and sent a message to anybody who thinks he’s done.

“Yeah, I’m going back to be that guy. Since they all seem to have forgotten,” he wrote on an Instagram story.

Playing in 43 of 65 games this campaign, Green recorded 8.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game. Still, people believe this season was only a bad one and that’s it. Steve Kerr recently spoke about Draymond’s season but he’s waiting for Draymond to return to his peak form next campaign.

“I think this year was really frustrating for him offensively,” Kerr said Friday on KNBR’s “Tolbert, Kreuger and Brooks” Podcast, “and then as a competitor, it was frustrating for him just losing night after night. It’s just too difficult in this league to try to win games when you’re that shorthanded. I think he dealt with the frustration. He definitely boiled over several times, got kicked out. But, overall, I just thought he handled himself well.

“He made it through, and he is getting a much-needed rest. And I think we’re going to see the very best version of Draymond next year, whenever next season starts. I feel really good about where he’s going to be mentally and physically.”

Green sent a warning to the rest of the league. Be ready because this man and his team are going to reclaim their throne in the NBA.
