Kyrie Irving Has Been One Of The “Leading Players” Raising Concerns About Starting The Season

2 Min Read

The 2019-20 NBA season is set to continue late next month, but not everyone has accepted the possibility of a return to action.

Multiple players and executives around the league have expressed major concern over playing again — for a multiple of reasons that mostly involve the health and safety of players. Leading this charge? Nets guard Kyrie Irving, who is a bit notorious for speaking up on behalf of the players.

Kyrie has made the headlines in the past for some bizarre things — wanting away from LeBron James in 2017, questioning the roundness of the earth, and posting cryptic, mysterious messages on his Instagram. On the professional side of things, he has called out the media and even his fellow teammates publicly when he feels things aren’t going his way.

He was also recently selected as the VP of the NBA Players Association, which will give him a bigger platform to question and criticize the treatment of pro-ballers.

Needless to say, Kyrie is pretty loud on things both basketball and non-basketball related. It’s no surprise he is leading the charge of players concerned about a restart.

And while Kyrie’s behavior in the past may be questionable, his concerns about playing again certainly aren’t. Starting up games again with COVID still active might result in more players being exposed to the virus.

No matter your opinion on Kyrie or the COVID-19 response, it’s clear that the NBA has to exercise caution.
