NBA Players React To George Floyd’s Death At The Hands Of Police

Several NBA players have raised their voices after released footage showed the involvement of four policemen in the death of African-American man George Floyd. LeBron James, as usual, was one of the first personalities to talk about this matter, calling out the police and all the people that don’t understand why athletes have been very outspoken about police brutality in recent times.

The video showed four police officers suffocating Mr. Floyd to death. One put his knee on Floyd’s throat, who said on several occasions he couldn’t breathe, but his words didn’t have any effect on the policemen.

Bron took to Instagram to post a picture referring to former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his protest, explaining that’s why not only Kaepernick but other players from several sports decided to protest for police brutality.

“Do you understand NOW!!??!!??”, James wrote on Instagram.

Another player who reacted to the video was Stephen Jackson, who actually met Floyd, calling him ‘twin’.

“Twin. I promise I won’t let this BS ride. Already talked to @shaunking. Anybody from Houston/Cuney Homes u know this was my brother. Can’t let this ride. All hands on deck. Rest Easy Twin,” he wrote in one post.

“Where we from not many make it out but my Twin was happy I did. I’m gonna continue to make u proud fam. It makes me so angry that after all the things u been through when u get to your best self that they take u out like this. …Rest Easy Twin,” he wrote in another post.

More NBA figures reacted to the video, showing the same response.

If you let your coworker do that to another human being without trying to stop him or talk to him out of it, you are as gulty as he is. Frustrating for the majority of good cops that take a lot of risk doing their job the right way everyday. https://t.co/HncJfZcVeD

It’s just makes me even more infuriated, there’s no excuse for this. Just PUNK ASS COPS doing PUNK ASS THINGS.. No matter what transpired before, he’s contained, no reason to squeeze the life out of him for the world to see. It’s MURDER.. https://t.co/HpLiJjEYyg

Heartbroken at this, bystanders can't go tackle the officer off the man because we know how that would play out. Only one here to help is the other officer standing there letting it all happen. SHAME!!!! https://t.co/ljDSBdH1SB

I’m scared for myself and my BLACK kids with SOME of these crazy people and cops… I hope to God they don’t get into some stuff and the cops come and possibly KILL them

— Isaiah Thomas (@isaiahthomas) May 26, 2020

This is fucking outrageous. How can this happen everyday https://t.co/Sx46jvSgkb

— Evan Fournier (@EvanFourmizz) May 26, 2020

Why Do They Keep Killing Us Man. . . this was heart breaking to watch, There’s a systematic agenda against us and I cannot be convinced otherwise #BlackLivesMatter https://t.co/TS2TdpKWPh

This is another episode of police brutality in the US. Regardless of how many people raise their voices against these incidents, they will continue to happen. It’s a sad situation for everybody suffering from authority abuse and their loved ones. Something must change.
