Ja Morant Explains Why He Changed His Mind And Selected Michael Jordan As The GOAT

Just like the Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young, Ja Morant has revealed he changed his mind on who is the greatest basketball player of all time. Before ESPN’s ‘The Last Dance’ aired showing why Michael Jordan is widely regarded as the GOAT, Morant believed LeBron James was the greatest ever, but that has changed now according to the Memphis Grizzlies rookie sensation.

During a recent interview with Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report, Morant talked about several topics, including the Rookie of the Year award. However, one of the most interesting things he said during his appearance was his description of how MJ changed his mind on the GOAT debate.

“I deserve it.” @JaMorant says he’s ROY over Zion 😤

He also names MJ as the GOAT, says who he wouldn’t want to be quarantined with and updates his dream starting 5 in a new interview with @TaylorRooks https://t.co/HCYLc5HHUA

“I haven’t seen Jordan play in person other than highlights,” Morant said. “You hear people talk about him and “The Last Dance” actually gave me an opportunity to see how he actually was, how he played, his mindset. Just watching that and taking everything out of that, I think he’s the GOAT.”

Morant never got to see MJ playing, therefore his idol was LeBron, and he was convinced the King was the greatest player ever until he saw Jordan and his Bulls.

“My focus was LeBron. I watched Bron. He was my generation,” Morant said. “That’s who I grew up watching on so I couldn’t speak on somebody I haven’t seen or anything. At that point, I was just saying, of his generation, it’s [Jordan]. Of ours, it’s Bron.”

“But all around, it’s Jordan,” he added.

Ja is only 20. There is no chance he could watch MJ, not even with the Washington Wizards. Growing up watching LeBron, it’s normal he has the Los Angeles Lakers star as the GOAT, but as we witnessed, MJ has the power to change that.
