Michael Jordan isn’t only the greatest player on earth but also one of the toughest competitors ever. More than that, he’s a master of the fine and lost art of trash-talking.
Everybody who ever had any kind of interaction with him always says the same: He wasn’t going to let you win, he’ll play you until he beat you, he wanted to humiliate you, and you’ll never hear the end of it after you lost to him.
Sadly for Patrick Ewing, he always ended up on the losing side of his matchups with the GOAT, as he was one of the Chicago Bulls’ favorite victims during Jordan’s prime. In fact, Michael Jordan is the biggest reason why Ewing never won an NBA Championship.
Needless to say, Ewing is still suffering from his negative record vs. the Black Cat, as he recently told ESPN’s The Jump that Jordan still talks trash to him up to this day:
“I played 17 years, and like you said, six years we played against the Bulls six times. We were only able to win one of those times, and unfortunately, he wasn’t there. So, he’s been talking trash from the first day that I met him, and he still continues to talk trash, telling me that I have never beaten him when it counts,” Ewing said.
Obviously, Jordan and Ewing have moved past that tough, physical rivalry they had during their playing days. They even shared the court in that legendary 1992 Dream Team and Ewing also played a lesser role in Space Jam, so you know they’re good.
Jordan, however, won’t let anything stand between him and competitiveness. Regardless of if you’re his friend, rival, brother or acquaintance, he’s always going to go for the jugular, and most importantly, he’ll never let you forget about it.
