NBA Rumors: The Best Destinations For DeMarcus Cousins If The Playoffs Start In June

The NBA season is suspended right now but that doesn’t mean players stopped working and rehabbing. Thus, we’re looking at probably the best playoffs on NBA history, with everybody back at full strength.

  • Boston Celtics
  • Houston Rockets
  • Miami Heat

Obviously, that means several people have speculated about the idea of some injured players being able to make their debuts this year, now that the playoffs are likely to start until June or even July.

A player that might as well join a contender and make his long-awaited comeback is DeMarcus Cousins, recently waived by the Los Angeles Lakers. But, who could use it in the playoffs? Let’s break it down:

Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks currently hold the best record in the NBA. Moreover, they already have Brook Lopez and Robin Lopez as his insurance policy. But, why not add yet another offensive weapon just in case?

Cousins could thrive on Mike Budenholzer’s offense thanks to his sweet shooting stroke. Also, he’d be more of a physical challenge down low than Lopez when it comes to attacking the rim.

Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Lakers are allowing DeMarcus Cousins to use their practice facility even though they waived him. However, that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be thinking about taking the ultimate revenge and joining their neighbors.

Cousins reportedly developed a huge rapport with the Lakers and their staff and he’d be one of their targets for the summer. Still, when it comes to winning a ring, you know he’ll do whatever it takes.

Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics are having a great year thus far but everybody knows they’re still lacking some depth at the center spot. Brad Stevens doesn’t seem to trust Enes Kanter enough, so why not make a run at Boogie?

Also, Cousins could be a part of their long term future if this experiment pans out, and having him under contract with Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Kemba Walker would turn them into even a bigger threat for years.

Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets have committed to small-ball. Their center-less lineup thrives under Mike D’Antoni’s run-and-gun offense. Nonetheless, they should still have some kind of insurance policy for the playoffs.

Cousins would be a perfect fit for the Rockets’ offense with his shooting and passing ability. Also, he’d give them more flexibility and size in case they need to match up against some top-tier bigs in the postseason.

Miami Heat

The Miami Heat are reportedly going to be in the mix for Cousins’ services in the summer. So why not speed things up and try and make a run at him right now? He’d be an outstanding backup for Bam Adebayo.

Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra have proven to be great at making the most of their disrupted players. Cousins just needs another chance to prove that he’s still elite, and South Florida seems like a perfect spot for doing so.
