The 2019 #1 overall pick is apparently close to making his debut. According to a report by Mitch Lawrence of SiriusXM NBA Radio, we can expect Duke sensation, Zion Williamson, to make his much-anticipated return to the court on Thursday against the Utah Jazz.
The Pelicans will know a lot more after practice this week, but it sure sounds like we’ll get the long-awaited NBA debut of Zion Williamson on Thursday vs. the Jazz. That’s the plan, anyway, per sources.

After suffering a pre-season leg injury, Williamson has yet to set foot on an NBA court. After putting up dominating numbers at Duke, and working his way into the national spotlight, Williamson was seen as the next-great basketball superstar.
Unfortunately, concerns about his health and durability have held him back from taking the next step. The Pelicans (who are an abysmal 14-26) and the NBA as a whole (who are suffering staggering drops in viewership) are suffering.
As the world anticipates his debut and a return to his normal high-flying ways, it’s obvious that the league could use a dose of Zion right now. Hopefully, he reminds us all just what he’s capable of by the end of the week.
